Search for missing Kerry farmer resumes

Michael Gaine is missing from his home in Co Kerry

A search for a farmer missing from his home in Co Kerry resumed on Sunday morning.

Michael 'Mike' Gaine, aged 56, was reported missing from his home near Kenmare, on Friday, March 21.

He was last seen in Kenmare town at approximately 11am on Thursday.

Gardaí requested the public's assistance in tracing his whereabouts, and Michael's family say they are concerned for his well-being.

According to a Garda spokesperson, he is described as being approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall with a stocky build, brown/grey hair and a bushy beard.

When last seen, he was wearing an orange woolly hat, black fleece, blue jeans and black boots.

On Saturday, hundreds of people from the local community joined members of the Coast Guard, Civil Defence, gardaí and Kerry Mountain Rescue in a search operation.

The search operation covered a wide area  around the MacGillycuddy's Reeks. 

The search was stood down late on Saturday night and resumed early on Sunday morning.
