Gardaí investigating alleged pipe bomb incident in Limerick

Gardaí are investigating an alleged pipe bomb incident in Limerick.

The alleged incident occurred in the early hours of this Sunday at a residence on Hyde Avenue, Ballinacurra Weston at approximately 4am.

A garda spokesperson confirmed enquiries are ongoing regarding the incident involving an "explosive device".

"No injuries have been reported to gardaí," they added.

It is understood this is the latest in a string of feud-related incidents, which have been occurring on the southside of the city.

In the same area, gardaí on patrol in Limerick city responded to an incident of public disorder on Thursday afternoon.

A teenager was arrested at the scene and detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at a garda station in Limerick. He appeared before Limerick District Court on Friday morning.

On January 23, a shooting incident occurred in the Hyde Rd area of the city at approximately 11pm.

Gardaí confirmed they "are investigating all the circumstances surrounding a report that a firearm was discharged" in the Hyde Rd area.
