A year in search: Here's what Irish people Googled the most
Spain celebrate winning Euro 2024 in the summer. The European Championships was top of the most searched terms for Irish people on Google this year.
The European Championships, the US election, Kate Middleton and the Netflix show are all on the top ten most searched list by Irish Google users this year.
The 'Year in Search' put Euro 2024 in first place, with the race for the US presidency in second place. The data is part of Google's yearly package of most searched terms, people, and topics from global sporting events to viral internet sensations.

Britain's Kate Middleton came in third place after Buckingham Palace announced her cancer diagnosis. Netflix TV show came in fourth, with the Olympics, Oasis, and also featuring on the list.
The TV series was also in the top 10 alongside searches for Cork's Bambie Thug and Donald Trump.
On celebrities, former One Direction singer Liam Payne was the most searched in Ireland following his death from a fall in Argentina. This was followed by Jay Slater who died while on holiday in Tenerife.
Maggie Smith, Charlie Bird and Ian Bailey also featured on the list.
In terms of people who were searched the most in 2024, Kate Middleton topped the chart. This was followed by Donald Trump in second place.
Boxing Olympic gold medalist Kellie Harrington was the third most searched person while swimming Olympic gold medalist Daniel Wiffen came in fourth place. Darts champion Luke Littler was fifth.

Cork actor and Academy Award winner Cillian Murphy also featured in the top 10 most searched people. DUP leader Jeffrey Donaldson, US President Joe Biden, and Democratic nominee Kamala Harris all featured on the list.
In trending sports topics, Euro 2024, the Olympics and Paralympics took the top three spots. The Ireland v New Zealand rugby match and the All-Ireland Hurling Final were also included in the list
assumed first place in the trending TV shows topic, with and also making the list.
In movies, was the most searched in Ireland. , an adaptation of Claire Keegan's book starring Cillian Murphy, came in fifth place. , starring Paul Mescal, came in seventh place.
In terms of recipes, the biggest search from the Irish public was 'Marry Me Chicken', followed by Pornstar Martini.
On the list of the most searched meanings in 2024, 'Demure' topped the poll. The word went viral following a TikTok by lifestyle and beauty influencer Jools Lebron. 'Repechage' was the second most searched term on the meanings list, following the Olympics.
"What is PMDD" topped the "What is" list in Ireland as well as "What is brat summer" and "What is cloud seeding." "How to register to vote" and "What is the referendum about" are featured as well in the "How to" and "What is" question lists.
From a global perspective, the South America's Copa América football tournament topped the chart.
