Ireland 'must double number of cybersecurity professionals'

Cyber Ireland will tell TDs and senators that there are currently 8,000 people working in the cybersecurity sector, but this number could grow to 17,000 by 2030.

Ireland needs to double the number of professionals with cybersecurity skills to ensure there is a “sustainable pipeline” into the future, a security representative body will tell TDs.

Cyber Ireland, described as a “national cyber security cluster organisation” that works with industry, academia, and government, is due to tell the Oireachtas communications committee on Thursday that there is a requirement for more prioritisation of cybersecurity.
