Unidentified human skull found on Lambay Island is not on human remains database

A reconstruction was carried out of the skull by Dr Caroline Wilkinson. She created a 3D manual facial reconstruction, a digital image of which featured in a renewed garda appeal for information three years ago. Picture: Gareth Chaney/Collins

An Irish mystery about an unidentified human skull is not included on the government’s human remains database, despite being included on a US database and despite a garda investigation into the 2006 discovery remaining open.

The skull was found off Lambay Island off the coast of Dublin in February 2006, by the crew of the fishing vessel 'Our Treacy', and brought into Rush harbour.
