She was then followed by a man who allegedly made sexual advances which she refused. He then assaulted her.

The incident happed near Ballybough in the north inner city.

It is believed the woman managed to flee from her attacker and raise the alarm in a nearby shop.

The shop workers contacted the gardaí who arrived at the scene and the woman was treated for her injuries in hospital.

One local told the Irish Examiner

The woman ran into a shop and asked for help. She had a lot of blood on her face.

“I think she is going to be ok. She is from Italy and came to Dublin to see the band.

"The guy, she didn't know him, he followed her, and tried to touch her and she stopped him. He hit her face badly, she was badly injured.

“The gardaí came and took her away and they spoke to the shopkeepers as well and took statements.”

In a statement, a spokesperson said: “Gardaí in Store Street are investigating an alleged assault that occurred in Dublin 1 on Saturday evening, August 17, 2024. Investigations are ongoing.”
