Tommy Meskill has been announced as RTÉ's new London correspondent.
Mr Meskill has worked at RTÉ for eight years, most recently as part of the station's political unit, reporting from Leinster House and the European Parliament.
He will take up his new role from Tuesday.
He joined the RTÉ newsroom in 2016, working across several different programmes, including news2day and Morning Ireland.
He as also presented programmes such as RTÉ Radio 1's This Week and RTÉ One's European Parliament Report. He is also an occasional newscaster with RTÉ News.
Mr Meskill, originally from Co Clare, studied Communications at Dublin City University. Prior to joining RTÉ, he worked as a reporter with Dublin's FM104 and Q102.
Reacting to his appointment, Mr Meskill said he was delighted:
"It's an honour to have been chosen and I'm very excited to get started."
Last week, RTÉ announced plans to reduce its workforce by up to 400, with funding for the voluntary exit programme estimated to cost around €50m.
The national broadcaster also intends to move both The Late Late Show and Fair City away from the Donnybrook campus over the next five years.
A new production facility in Cork is also part of RTÉ's five-year plan which was published last Tuesday.
Commenting on the plan, RTÉ’s director general Kevin Bakhurst said: "The launch of the strategy comes after a period of turmoil for the organisation; a time when we were kept going by the commitment of our staff and partners and the continued support of our audiences.
"Against this backdrop, we must recommit to our core public service mission and beliefs."
