Gardaí investigating after body of man found in Co Leitrim

Gardaí are investigating after the body of a man in his 40s was found in Co Leitrim.

The man's body was found "on open land" in Kiltyclogher on Saturday afternoon.

Gardaí and emergency services were called to the scene at around 2.30pm, which was closed off to allow for an examination by the Garda Technical Bureau.

A post-mortem is due to be carried out on the body in due course. Gardaí say the results will determine the course of the investigation.

In a statement, gardaí said: "Gardaí in Kinlough are investigating all the circumstances in relation to the discovery of a body of a man on open land in Kiltyclogher, Co. Leitrim on the afternoon of Saturday 2nd March, 2024.

"Investigations are ongoing.”
