Gardaí spent more than €1.4m on recruitment advertisements over the past three years with ads on TV, radio, Facebook, LinkedIn, and TikTok.
The spending proved remarkably effective with 5,000 people applying to become a member last year and a massive 11,000 applications in 2022.
