Matthew Healy was was found dead in a car in Waterford on Friday
Gardaí have charged a woman who was arrested in connection with the death of six-year-old Matthew Healy, whose body was found in a car near Dunmore East in Waterford last Friday.
The woman, in her late 30s, is due to appear before a special sitting of Waterford District Court at 8:45pm this evening.
Matthew's body was found in the back of a car near Rathmoylan Cove Beach. Despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead in hospital on Friday morning.
The rural beach, which is off the Waterford Coast Road, is about 3km from the popular seaside village of Dunmore East.
The woman was arrested at the scene on Friday, under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
She was taken to Waterford Garda Station but was too unwell to be interviewed and required medical attention.
A requiem Mass for Matthew is to be held on Wednesday at 12pm in the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Watergrasshill, Co Cork, the town where his father lives.
Meanwhile, gardaí have warned of scam posts circulating on social media advertising a live stream of the little boy’s funeral in Cork.
“The posts include a link which users are prompted to click on in order to watch the mass, and are then redirected to a webpage that captures their personal information.
“Please do not engage with these posts," gardaí have warned.
“Anyone who wishes to watch a funeral mass via live stream are asked to please revert to the Parish or Diocese directly.”
