AI being used to harm children online, committee to hear today

AI 'has been around for years and has been actively impacting on children in their use of technology over the last 10 years'.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is being used to harm children by recommending suicide or self-harm to vulnerable users via social media algorithms, an Irish charity will claim today.

CyberSafe Kids, a Dublin-based charity focused on child safety online, will tell a hearing of the Oireachtas children’s committee that AI “has been around for years and has been actively impacting on children in their use of technology over the last 10 years”.
