Funeral details for the three people killed in Wednesday's tragic collision in Carlow have been announced.

The three friends, Daryl Culbert, 21, Michael Kelly, 25, and Katie Graham, 19, died when the red Lexus they were travelling in collided with a tree and burst into flames.

A fourth person, a man in his early 20s, from nearby Ballinabrannagh, was taken to St Luke's hospital in Kilkenny. He was later transferred to the Mater Hospital in Dublin where he is being treated for serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Mr Culbert, from Kiltegan in Wicklow, will be laid to rest on Monday, February 5 following a funeral service at St Peter's Church in Kiltegan at 2 pm.

He will then be buried in the adjoining churchyard.

The funeral of Mr Kelly, from Nurney in Co Carlow, will take place on February 6. The funeral procession will arrive at St Brigid's Church in Hacketstown for the 1pm Requiem Mass which will also be live-streamed.

He will then be laid to rest with his grandparents in Hacketstown cemetery.

Ms Graham from Ballickmoyler on the Laois/Carlow border will be reposing at her family home on Sunday afternoon from 3pm to 8pm, with a rosary at 7pm.

She will then be removed on Monday morning to the Church of the Sacred Heart, Arles, for 11am Requiem Mass. It will then be followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.

The three deaths are among 19 fatalities on Irish roads so far this year.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to the collision to come forward.

A garda spokesperson said: “Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the N80 at Leagh between 11.15pm and midnight are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.”
