HSE issues vomiting bug advice with cases on the rise

The HPSC has advised while it is not always possible to avoid catching this bug, there are measures people can take to reduce the risks or to lessen the chances of spreading it.

Rates of norovirus are on the rise and the public has been urged to use soap rather than alcohol hand gels when washing hands as these gels do not kill this virus.

Some 60 cases of norovirus, or the winter vomiting bug, were reported in the week up to December 16.
