Gas Networks Ireland will connect 11 data centres to gas grid despite emissions target concerns

Data centres requesting to be connected to the national gas system will be facilitated, the national network provider has confirmed.

Gas Networks Ireland (GNI) told Sinn Féin senator Lynn Boylan it is “contractually obligated” to connect 11 so-called islanded centres, which cannot access the electrical grid, to the network, despite a previous warning that the centres could negatively impact Ireland’s emissions targets.
