A Limerick man is reported to have died in Paris ahead of Ireland’s Rugby World Cup game with Scotland.

Reports suggest the man travelled to Paris for the game this week and died suddenly on Thursday.

In a statement, the Department of Foreign Affairs said: “The Department of Foreign Affairs is aware of the death of an Irish citizen in France and is providing consular assistance.

“As with all consular cases, the Department does not comment on the detail of individual cases.”

The news was first reported by the Limerick Leader which stated that the man was from East Limerick.
