Gardaí appeal for witnesses after stabbing incident at Dublin Airport

The incident happened outside Terminal 1 at Dublin Airport

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to come forward following an alleged stabbing at Dublin Airport after which a man was taken to hospital to be treated for injuries.

Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of the incident which occurred at approximately 11.30am outside Terminal 1 at Dublin Airport on Sunday morning.

The man in his 50s was taken to Beaumont Hospital to be treated for injuries which gardaí say are believed to be non-life-threatening.

A second man, also in his 50s, has been arrested and taken to a Garda station in the north Dublin area following the incident.

It is understood Airport Police responded within 90 seconds and detained the man who was subsequently taken into custody.

The airport's fire service ambulance personnel then attended to the victim before he was taken to hospital.

A garda spokesperson said the scene is currently preserved for a forensic examination by the Garda Technical Bureau and investigations are ongoing.

“Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident to contact them.

“Any pedestrians or road users who were in the vicinity of Terminal 1 between 11am and 11.45am this morning, Sunday 17th September 2023, and who may have camera footage (including dash cam) are asked to make this available to investigating Gardaí,” they said.

In a statement, a spokesperson for daa said airport police also responded to the incident adding that flights at Dublin Airport are operating as normal.
