Woman, 80s, killed in Dublin hit-and-run incident

A woman in her 80s has died following a collision in Dublin on Friday.
Gardaí and emergency services personnel attended the scene of the collision involving a car and a pedestrian at the junction of Fortunestown Way and Cheeverstown Road in Tallaght at 11am.
The pedestrian, a woman in her 80s, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her body has since been removed to the Dublin City Morgue at Whitehall where an autopsy will take place at a later stage.
The car, which initially failed to remain at the scene, has been identified and recovered by gardaí. It will now be subject to a technical examination, a garda spokesperson said.
The road where the crash took place is currently closed pending an examination by Forensic Collision Investigators.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone with information on the collision to contact them.
Any road users or pedestrians who may have camera footage, including dash-cam,, and who were travelling on Fortunestown Way or Cheeverstown Road, this morning between 10.30am and 11.15am, ihave asked to make this footage available to investigating gardaí.
