Hoaxer helped Yorkshire Ripper from 150km away
Bradford Lorry driver Peter Sutcliffe, under cover of a blanket, at Dewsbury Magistrates Court, after he was committed in custody to stand trial at Leeds Crown Court, charged with the murder of 13 women and the attempted murder of seven others.
The Yorkshire Ripper was helped to kill by a stranger he never met and who lived 150km away.
In one of criminal history's cruellest hoaxes, John Humble tricked police into believing the serial killer was Wearside Jack, a man with a gruff Sunderland accent.
