The High Court has set aside "in their entirety" the State's regulations that allow for the industrial extraction of peat from Irish bogs.

In a lengthy and detailed judgment today Mr Justice Garrett Simons held that proceedings brought by environmental group Friends of the Irish Environment challenging the regulations should be allowed on certain grounds.
