The Government has spent €56m on external consultants over the past five years, according to the Sunday Business Post.

The Government has spent €56m on external consultants over the past five years, according to the Sunday Business Post.

The newspaper found that the State paid some of the largest accountancy firms in the country.

The biggest earner was Deloitte, which received €34m from several government departments.

KPMG was paid €12m for advice on the National Broadband Plan.
