Dublin City Council is to receive €8m under the plan, Limerick City and County Council will get €2.7m, while Cork City Council will get €1.2m.

Funding of €25m has been announced by the government to make local authority housing more energy efficient.

It says the money is part of an ongoing retrofitting programme and will be used to improve things like insulation and heating systems.

<p> Volunteers attending the DMax 7.7 fitness event, in honour of Darragh McCarthy, who tragically passed away last year at just 21 years of age. The sold-out fitness event saw over 300 competitors take on DMax 7.7 featuring seven fitness stations, lasting seven minutes per station with a two minute transition between station. Competitors entered in teams of two and tested their strength, endurance and mental resilience across a series of challenges including rope skipping, ski-erg, medicine ball, assault bike, rowing, burpee box jumps and wall balls.
