'Idiots' making search and rescue more hazardous by shining lasers at helicopters

The sister of tragic Coast Guard helicopter pilot Dara Fitzpatrick - who died on board an Irish Coast Guard rescue helicopter that crashed in 2017 - has blasted an alleged laser attack on a Coast Guard helicopter crew in Limerick last Thursday night.

The Transport, Tourism and Sport (DTTS) said they are aware of a report of the alleged use of a laser pointed at the crew of the Shannon based Rescue 115 helicopter.

The incident is understood to have occurred on Thursday evening of last week.
