Latest: Gardaí are to step up armed patrols over the coming days following the murder of Eric Fowler in west Dublin on Saturday night, write Cate McCurry and Stephen Rogers.

The father of two was shot dead outside a house at Blakestown Cottages in Blanchardstown shortly before 7pm in what is believed to have been a gangland killing possibly linked to the Hutch-Kinahan feud.
