Irish Water has said it is now halfway to creating a “sewage-free” Cork Lower Harbour, removing 20,000 wheelie bins of raw sewage which had been entering the area every day.

Irish Water has said it is now halfway to creating a “sewage-free” Cork Lower Harbour, removing 20,000 wheelie bins of raw sewage which had been entering the area every day.

The utility said that when the Cork Lower Harbour Main Drainage Project started in 2015, the equivalent of 40,000 bins of sewage was being discharged into it daily.
