Local councillor Níal Ring says residents in the area have had enough of the violence.

"They are sick and tired of it, to be honest," said Mr Ring.

"I'd describe it as a cancer that is eating away at the heart of a great community.

"We just want an end to it. Anything or anybody who can put an end to all of this - it would be really welcomed by the people of the north inner city, to get on and have a normal life."
