Irishman dies while kitesurfing in Thailand

An Irishman has died while kitesurfing in Thailand.

It is understood the 43-year-old had been living in the country for a number of years.

Officials had warned against watersports at sea due to an approaching typhoon.

The Department of Foreign Affairs said it is aware of the situation.

The Department is providing consular assistance.
