A 48-year-old man has appeared in court charged in connection with a multi-million euro cannabis seizure in Lucan, Co Dublin.

A 48-year-old man has appeared in court charged in connection with a multi-million euro cannabis seizure in Lucan, Co Dublin.

On Friday afternoon, gardaí stopped a truck travelling inbound on the N4 in Lucan in Dublin.

Officers searched the vehicle and found cannabis herb with a street value of around €4m.

The driver of the truck was arrested at the scene and brought to Lucan Garda Station for questioning.

This morning, a 48-year-old man was brought before Blanchardstown District Court charged in connection with the haul.

James Manning of Belclare Avenue in Ballymun in Dublin – who was dressed in a hooded top and jeans – was charged with the possession of cannabis for sell or supply.

A garda told the court he made no reply when he was charged at Lucan Garda Station yesterday afternoon.

His solicitor told the Judge there was no application for bail at this stage.

The accused, who didn not speak during the brief hearing, was remanded in custody to appear before Cloverhill District Court on Thursday.
