The British Government has said it is "determined to succeed" in restoring powersharing in Northern Ireland, but warned it was ultimately responsible to provide certainty over delivering public services.

A government spokesman said it would not support an arrangement unless it complied with the Good Friday Agreement, but ministers must obey their constitutional obligations.
