I regret 250,000 jobs lost during recession, says Brian Cowen

Former taoiseach Brian Cowen has said he regrets that a quarter of a million people lost their jobs during the recession.

In a rare public appearance, Mr Cowen insisted, however, that significant cuts in public expenditure had been necessary to ensure future economic success.
