Irish hospitals suspected of being hit by the international cyber attack had been targeted by a different, older virus, health chiefs have revealed.

About 52,000 PCs and 2,350 servers in Ireland's Health Service Executive (HSE) have had anti-virus software deployed as IT experts moved to counteract the threat of the global "ransomware".
