Elderly man dies in Roscommon house fire

A man in his 70s has died following a fire at a house in County Roscommon.

Emergency services were called to the property in Athlone at around 1pm today.

The man is believed to have died from smoke inhalation and his body remains at the scene.

Gardaí say they are not treating it as suspicious.
