The Catholic church must measure up to its responsibility when it comes to compensating those who suffered abuse in institutions run by religious orders, Enda Kenny has said.

The Taoiseach urged church authorities to reflect on the issue following last week's revelation that orders have paid just 13% of a €1.5bn bill for a long-running inquiry, redress and compensation.
