Almost 540 people are on trolleys at hospitals across the country again today, according to the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation.

Almost 540 people are on trolleys at hospitals across the country again today, according to the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation.

Cork University Hospital is the worst affected with 60 people waiting for admission to beds.

University Hospital Galway is next with 49, followed by South Tipperary General Hospital on 35.

In all, there are 434 on hospital trolleys while 102 are in overflow wards waiting for a bed.
