Gardaí look to postmortem results for clearer indication of what happened Mayo couple

Gardai hope postmortem results will give them a clearer indication of what happened to an elderly couple who died in County Mayo.

Tom Fitzgerald, who was in his 70's and his wife Kitty, who was aged in her 60's, were pronounced dead at their home near Irishtown on Tuesday.

Their son Paul suffered injuries and is being treated at Beaumont Hospital in Dublin

Postmortems are due to be carried out today and a technical examination of the scene has taken place.
