Man dies following stabbing in Longford

A man has died following a stabbing in Longford town.

It happened on Great Water Street shortly before midday.

The man, who is thought to be in his early 30s, was being treated for chest wounds at Mullingar Hospital before he was pronounced dead this afternoon.

The scene has been preserved and gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

No arrests have yet been made.
