Education Minister: ASTI have taken unreasonable approach
The Education Minister says the approach taken by the union to the teachers dispute is unreasonable.
The ASTI, which represents 18,000 secondary school teachers, is set to hold seven-days of strike action on dates in October, November and December.
Teachers will also withdraw from supervision and substitution duties from the November 7.
Richard Bruton has once again stated the action being taken is unnecessary: "I believe that the approach they have taken is unreasonable that they have sought to go for industrial action instead of engaging in a meaningful way in getting and making progress, in the same way that all other public service unions have done."
