Employers encouraged to switch to E-vetting for Garda vetting

Employers are being encouraged to transition to e-Vetting.

There is an average five-day turnaround for most applications, compared to the old system of paper applications of 4-5 weeks.

Garda vetting is mandatory for all who work with children and vulnerable people.

People will also be able to track progress of their own application online.

Superintendent Sarah Myler, says the Bureau will provide training for use of the system: "It's very easy to transition, there is no expensive equipment involved, it takes 24 hours and we offer the full support of the national vetting bureau to walk the organisation step by step through the e-vetting process.

"We can do it over night and they will be able to use the system and provide a faster more efficient system for their own staff."
