Biggest ever data tracker of girls begins
The biggest ever data tracker of girls across the globe is being launched today.
The tool aims to track life changes of young women across the world to find out how many become mothers before they turn 15, drop out of school early or become child brides.
It is the first time the changes will be logged on an international scale.
Sabrina Kevany from Plan International Ireland outlined what they hope to achieve.
"We have to count girls and count them in, and women in the world today carry much more than babies or water," she said.
"They carry families and they carry businesses, and they carry communities. They carry potential and obviously they carry solutions. And when we count real data and invest in girls' health, in girls' rights and girls' wellbeing, they can lift up entire communities."
