'Huge momentum' behind Repeal the 8th campaign

Over 60 groups with 1.5 million members have joined the Coalition to Repeal the 8th Amendment.

It comes as Grazia magazine in Britain has featured the Repeal campaign.

A Citizen's Assembly will meet next month to consider issues involved.

Ailbhe Smyth from the Coalition to Repeal the 8th says there’s huge momentum behind the movement.

"There is tremendous follow-through momentum from the Yes Equality campaign, with young people in particular all around the country actually saying 'when are we going to do this? We want to do this now, we're ready for it, bring on the referendum to repeal the 8th amendment'."
