GRA to ballot members on industrial action

The Garda Representative Association has announced it's going to ballot members about the possibilty of taking industrial action.

The secret ballot will ask members if they would be willing to take part in a day or days of industrial action.

Gardaí are not legally permitted to take part in strikes or industrial action.

In a letter to rank and file Gardaí, the GRA General Secretary Pat Ennis urged members to express their views on the issue.

The GRA is seeking to restore pay and allowances lost due to austerity measures.
