INMO releases figures showing more than 270 waiting for hospital beds
There are 271 people waiting on a hospital bed today, according to the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation.
The INMO Trolley Watch claims 202 people are on trolleys with a further 69 in overflow areas of wards at hospitals across the country.
Midland Regional Hospital in Tullamore is the most overcrowded with 28 people in need of a bed.
University Hospital Limerick follows closely behind with 27 people waiting while the Tallaght Hospital in Dublin has 23 people on trolleys and overflow areas of wards.
