Shane Ross urged to intervene in eFlow tags row

Transport Minister Shane Ross is being urged to intervene in a dispute which is set to impact thousands of motorists.

From next Wednesday, drivers using eFlow tags will not be able to automatically travel through three tolling booths around Ireland and will have to stop to pay the toll instead.

The roads affected are the M1 near Drogheda, the M7/M8 south of Portlaoise and the N25 at Waterford.

Celtic Roads Group - which operates the toll plazas - and State-owned Eflow both say the dispute concerning a new contract to cover the cost of processing toll payments is out of their control.

Labour TD Alan Kelly said Minister Shane Ross (pictured) now needed to act.

"The Minister has the capacity to intervene," he said. "It's case of bringing the two parties together to sort this out to ensure road users are facilitated."
