A demonstration in Dublin is expected to bring traffic to a standstill in the city centre this afternoon, in protest at the rising cost of car insurance premiums.

Update 2.10pm: The organiser of today’s protest against rising car insurance premiums has said that the situation is now “past breaking point” for hard-pressed motorists.

“It’s been getting out of hand for quite a while now,” said Cian Griffin, from the motoring blog Ireland Underground.
