Revenue officers seize 25,000 cigarettes in Cork

Revenue officers have seized 25,000 cigarettes after a searching a house under warrant in Co Cork.

With the assistance of detector dog Harvey, Revenue officers discover cigarettes branded ‘Marlboro’, ‘L&M’, ‘Mayfair’ and ‘Che’ at a home in Macroom.

The cigarettes would have had a retail value of over €13,000 and would have represented a loss to the Exchequer of approximately €10,400.

A Polish man and woman in their 30s have been interviewed and investigations are ongoing with a view to prosecution.
