Police in the North are investigating the discovery of wreckage from an aircraft of the coast of Co Antrim yesterday.

Police in the North are investigating the discovery of wreckage from an aircraft of the coast of Co Antrim yesterday.

Two passengers are believed to have been on board the plane, which had taken off from Derry Airport on Thursday evening.

The wreckage has been confirmed as belonging to the missing microlight aircraft.

The coastguard has said the debris was found north of Glenarm yesterday afternoon by a yacht which had joined the search operation.

An Irish Coastguard helicopter, a helicopter from Scotland and five RNLI lifeboats took part in the search operation.

The PSNI is appealing to anyone with information on the missing plane to contact them.
