Two people have been injured in a shooting in Dublin.

Shots were fired through the window of a house in the Cherry Orchard area of Ballyfermot at about 1.40am today.

A man and woman both in their 30's suffered minor injuries in the incident.

They were taken to St James' Hospital, however it is understood they have since been discharged.

A forensic examination of the scene is underway and Gardaí at Ballyfermot are appealing for witnesses.
