Survey shows how much social media affects secondary school pupils' studies

More than half of secondary school students say social media use affects their studies.

Almost all the 2,000 surveyed for studyclix.ie have a smart phone, with many using it for study.

A survey has found that 56% say their school work is affected by being on Snapchat and Facebook.

Luke Saunders, who carried out the research, said: "We asked students 'does using social media affect your schoolwork?' and 56% replied saying it had.

"As a teacher myself, and as founder of studyclix, I'd always recommend to students to try and confine social media use to when they are on study breaks."
