Man dead in workplace incident

A man has died in a workplace incident in Co. Kildare.

The incident occurred at 8.30pm in the Green Isle factory on the Monread Road in Naas

There they found a man in his 40s who had sustained crush injuries.

The man, aged 42, was taken to Naas General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Gardaí and the Health and Safety Authority are carrying out two separate investigations.

A statement released from Green Isle Foods said: "Green Isle Foods confirms with deep regret that there has been a fatal accident at its manufacturing facility in Naas, Co. Kildare.

"The accident which occurred last night has resulted in the tragic loss of one of our colleagues.

"Management and staff at Green Isle Foods wish to expresstheir deepest sympathies to the family and offer their full support at this very difficult time.

"Green Isle Foods is co-operating fully with the relevant authorities as they conduct their investigations into this tragic incident."
