Infant boy dies in Kerry; man taken from the scene with serious injuries

Gardaí are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of an 11-month-old baby boy at an apartment complex in Killarney, Co Kerry.

Shortly before 6pm, Gardaí and emergency services were called to an apartment on Upper High Street, Killarney.

A baby boy was treated at the scene by emergency services personnel, however he was pronounced dead a short time later.

A male, aged in his 30s, was taken from the scene with serious injuries by ambulance to University Hospital Kerry, Tralee.

The baby's body remains at the scene which is currently preserved.

The Office of the State Pathologist has been informed and a preliminary examination will be carried out by Dr Bolster later this evening.
