The funeral of a young boy who died in a tragic drowning incident in Kildare during the week is taking place this morning.

The funeral of a young boy who died in a tragic drowning incident in Kildare during the week is taking place this morning.

On Monday, 13-year-old Oisin Quigley entered the Lyreen River beside the Kilcock Road in Maynooth to attempt to rescue one of his friends before getting into difficulty himself.

He later died at Crumlin Children's Hospital in Dublin.

Two other teenagers, a boy and a girl, received hospital treatment after the incident.

Oisin Quigley will be laid to rest in Lararyan Cemetery at St. Mary's Church Maynooth this morning.
